Introducing: Katherine Byrd, VP of Marketing, Health & Nutrition at Informa
Katherin Byrd, VP of Marketing, Health & Nutrition for Informa spoke with WIN’s Sonja Thompson about partnering with WIN, both from a business and a personal perspective.
How Informa aligns with WIN
How does WIN’s mission align with your company’s values and goals?
”WIN’s mission closely aligns with what we care about: building a more connected, informed, and equitable nutraceutical industry. Our business is centered on elevating expert voices, sparking innovation, and helping people grow. WIN is doing the same, especially when it comes to supporting women across the industry. As a leader who’s benefited from inclusive leadership and strong mentors, supporting WIN is both personal and professional for me.
We’ve seen how representation drives progress. WIN’s efforts to increase the number of women in executive leadership, research, and entrepreneurship directly reinforce the kind of industry we’re working to build.
When women are empowered to lead, invest, and innovate, the entire industry becomes stronger. WIN is helping make that possible, and we’re proud to be part of the momentum.”
How does your company benefit from supporting gender equality initiatives, both in terms of culture and business outcomes?
”Gender equality isn’t just a value. It drives better work. When your teams reflect your audience, your products and experiences become sharper, more relevant, and more innovative. Diverse teams ask better questions and challenge assumptions that lead to real progress. When people feel respected and supported, they bring their best. It’s good for culture and it’s smart business.
In a market where women are often the primary health decision-makers, whether they’re making choices for themselves, their families, or their communities, having women in leadership ensures we’re building with the right insights, the right instincts, and the right intentions.”
What specific initiatives or programs has your company implemented to foster gender diversity, and what results have you seen so far?
”Across Informa, we’ve prioritized mentoring, leadership development, and internal mobility to support women advancing into senior roles. Within the Health & Nutrition portfolio, many of our top leaders are women, not because of quotas, but because of consistent investment, strong support, and a culture that recognizes the value of diverse leadership.
I’ve seen women lead complex rebrands, run full-funnel strategies, and launch programs that have redefined how we show up in the market. They’re building high-performing teams, mentoring others, and shaping the future of our industry.
We’re seeing the impact, and we’re not done. Representation is just one part of the equation. We’re focused on creating the systems and flexibility that help women stay in leadership, grow through every stage of their careers, and keep driving meaningful change.”
On a personal note…
“I’m about to step away on maternity leave while leading a large team and a high-growth, high-visibility portfolio. And here’s the thing, I’m not hitting pause on my career. I’m not sidelined. I’m supported. I’ve been able to build a plan, empower my team, and trust that the work will continue to thrive while I take time to be present with my growing family.
That’s what inclusive workplaces make possible, not just policies on paper, but real systems that acknowledge people’s whole lives and create space for both ambition and care. It’s not about choosing between leadership and motherhood. It’s about having an environment that allows you to show up fully in both roles.
Organizations like WIN are critical to making that the norm, not the exception. They’re working to create a future where more women have that kind of support, and stepping away doesn’t mean falling behind. That matters deeply. For me, for my team, and for the health of our entire industry.”
